Dallas Jenkins, the series showrunner of The Chosen, recently reaffirmed the endpoint of the beloved show. As the first multi-season TV series about the ministry of Jesus, The Chosen has garnered significant attention since its debut in 2019, now spanning four seasons with the upcoming release of Season 4.
Amid the excitement surrounding Season 5’s production, fans have been eager to know when The Chosen will come to its conclusion.
During a YouTube live stream hosted by Dallas Jenkins, the show’s director and creator provided clarity on the show’s timeline. When asked about the series’ coverage of the New Testament, Jenkins reiterated that The Chosen is planned for a total of seven seasons, primarily focusing on the Gospels:
“These seven seasons of the show cover the Gospels. The ending of Season 7 will probably get a little bit into the Book of Acts. But these seven seasons are focused on the Gospels.”
While the Gospels are the primary focus of the series, Jenkins hinted at the possibility of getting deeper into the New Testament in future projects, expressing his interest in exploring more stories from that period:
“I would love to get into the Book of Acts and go deeper into the New Testament and deeper into these stories. But a lot’s going to have to happen for that to work obviously.”
Jenkins’ remarks indicate not only the planned trajectory of The Chosen but also his openness to exploring additional Bible-based projects beyond the show’s conclusion.
The confirmation of The Chosen’s seven-season plan reassures fans amidst the show’s success and ongoing legal challenges. Jenkins’ consideration of future projects and potential theatrical releases for upcoming seasons further reflects his commitment to expanding the series’ reach and impact.
As fans await the release of Season 4 and beyond, they can continue to enjoy Seasons 1-3 on various streaming platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Peacock, and The Chosen app.
