Developer HoYoverse has released all the juicy details about Honkai: Star Rail 2.1, from its release date to the introduction of new characters.
While the game technically entered its second year with Version 2.0’s Penacony release, the upcoming patch marks the completion of its first anniversary since launch, promising plenty of surprises and generous rewards.
During a special livestream, HoYoverse introduced the three new characters previously announced, delving into their in-game personas and unique gameplay mechanics.
The livestream also debunked earlier leaks regarding character banners in Honkai: Star Rail 2.1, emphasizing the importance of taking leaks with a grain of salt.
Additionally, viewers were treated to previews of other content, including story updates, events, and quality-of-life improvements, showcasing how players are being rewarded for their ongoing support.
Let’s take a closer look at the new characters debuting in Version 2.1:
Acheron, a 5-star Lightning character, specializes in applying debuffs to opponents, with her entire gameplay centered around this strategy.
Her Skill grants charges of Slashed Dream, empowering her Ultimate, which can target specific foes multiple times.
Acheron’s Technique allows her to instantly eliminate weaker enemies, hinting at her potential connection to Raiden Mei from the Honkai series.
Aventurine, another 5-star character, is an Imaginary hero who focuses on shield support and offense. His Skill provides shields to allies, accumulating energy when damaged to unleash a powerful AoE attack.
Aventurine’s Ultimate debuffs opponents, increasing their CRIT DMG, while his Technique offers various buffs for upcoming battles, emphasizing his aggressive shielder role.
Lastly, Gallagher, a 4-star Fire DMG character, excels in healing. His Skill automatically heals a targeted ally, while his Ultimate deals AoE damage and applies a debuff to enemies, allowing allies to restore life when attacking debuffed foes.
Gallagher promises to be one of the game’s most aggressive healers. Despite earlier leaks, HoYoverse confirmed that Honkai: Star Rail 2.1 will feature reruns of Luocha and Jingliu banners instead of Topaz and Fu Xuan as previously speculated.
