MSI’s Core Ultra-powered handheld gaming device, the MSI Claw, has made its official debut, with the base model now available for purchase on MSI’s website at a price of $699.
Two higher-spec models are also slated for release, scheduled for March 12th. Here’s a breakdown of the three models:
- $699: Core Ultra 5 / 512GB SSD
- $749: Core Ultra 7 / 512GB SSD
- $799: Core Ultra 7 / 1TB SSD
All three models of the MSI Claw are available for preorder on Newegg, with shipments expected to commence on March 15th. Newegg preorders come with added incentives, including a Skull and Bones standard edition game code and a one-month free trial of Xbox Game Pass. Furthermore, the MSI Claw can be purchased from Best Buy, with shipping set to begin by April 4th.
MSI initially unveiled the Claw at CES 2024 in January, entering the burgeoning portable PC market alongside competitors such as the Steam Deck, Asus ROG Ally, and the Lenovo Legion Go. Distinguished as the first device to feature Intel’s Core Ultra processors, the MSI Claw runs on Windows and boasts a seven-inch, 1080p LCD display with a variable refresh rate (VRR) ranging from 48Hz to 120Hz.
Equipped with an Intel Arc graphics chip containing eight Xe-cores, the MSI Claw is powered by a 53Wh battery, providing approximately two hours of battery life. Notable features include Hall effect triggers and joysticks, designed to mitigate stick drift issues, along with additional conveniences such as a power button integrated with a fingerprint sensor, a microSD slot, and a Thunderbolt 4 port.
