Jim Ross expressed his disbelief at the current state of affairs within WWE, addressing the allegations against Vince McMahon made by former employee Janel Grant.
In the latest episode of his Grilling JR podcast, Ross reflected on the situation, acknowledging the need for change and emphasizing the impact on innocent individuals.
“I just never believed that Vince would allow his company to get this out of control — and it has,” Ross lamented. Recognizing the necessity for closure and peace, he expressed his weariness with the ongoing changes, stating, “Lots of change afloat. And personally, I’ll be glad when the winds have swept that change on through. I’m tired of it.”
Expressing his sympathy for McMahon, Ross acknowledged the significance of WWE in Vince’s life. Despite the turmoil, Ross urged a collective move towards positivity. He encouraged everyone to move on, reset, and seek happier days.
Following the filing of Grant’s lawsuit, McMahon resigned from WWE and its parent company TKO Group Holdings, with a vow to vigorously defend himself against the allegations.
Ross, while anticipating an impact on McMahon’s legacy, believed it wouldn’t be earth-shattering. He acknowledged the enduring legacy of McMahon in building WWE, stating,
“You’ll never be able to take away from what Vince built and how he’s helped a lot of people.”
Discussing the lawsuit’s potential influence on McMahon’s legacy, Ross opined,
“It’ll affect it to some degree, but it won’t be earth-shattering. It won’t be a big seismographic change, because he’s still Vince McMahon.”
Expressing a desire for resolution and a return to happier days, Ross reflected on McMahon’s role in shaping the wrestling industry. He emphasized the need to build on positive aspects and move forward collectively.
Acknowledging his gratitude for his time at WWE and his current role at AEW under Tony Khan, Ross expressed optimism.
Despite recent health issues, he called the final two matches of AEW’s Revolution pay-per-view, marking his return to AEW programming and affirming his commitment to building on the positives in his life.
