Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is resetting its leaderboard due to the discovery of a game-breaking bug that led to an infinite scaling of the Burn status effect.
Game director Axel Rydby addressed the issue on the official Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Discord, explaining that the Burn effect was unintentionally scaling infinitely at higher Mastery levels, rendering it excessively overpowered. Rocksteady acknowledged that this imbalance stripped away the challenge from the endgame experience.
“We encourage players to innovate with powerful builds and continuously redefine the meta,” Rydby emphasized. “While the Burn build is undeniably potent and enjoyable, it was never meant to be the sole viable option for endgame content.”
Following thorough deliberation, the developers opted to significantly reduce the potency of the Burn effect to align with its original design. However, addressing the issue of skewed leaderboards caused by players exploiting overpowered Burn builds necessitated a more drastic measure: resetting the leaderboards entirely.
“As this change will fundamentally impact the leaderboards and player progression, we’re committed to introducing a fresh leaderboard,” Rydby assured the community. “This will allow players to explore various builds without the dominance of a single overpowered strategy.”
While this decision may disappoint those who invested time in crafting and climbing with Burn builds on the existing leaderboard, Rocksteady promised to preserve their accomplishments in a separate tab for posterity.
“The new leaderboard for Finite Crisis will become the primary one for all players, with an option to view past entries in a dedicated tab,” Rydby explained.
Although a release date for the patch has not been announced, community manager Darroch Brown assured players that it is slated for release “soon.”
