Paradox Interactive has faced another setback in the release of Cities Skylines 2 for consoles, originally planned to coincide with its PC launch last October. Initially postponed to “spring 2024” and subsequently to October 2024, the console release has now been indefinitely delayed.
According to Paradox, the decision stems from the failure to meet the internal stability and performance benchmarks necessary for a successful launch.
In an official statement on their forum, Paradox expressed regret over not achieving the required stability and performance levels for the console version. They clarified that without a finalized Release Candidate (RC), they cannot commit to an October release window. The development team acknowledged ongoing issues that impact the gameplay experience and noted a tentative timeline for a new RC evaluation in August.
Despite these challenges, Paradox assured the community of its commitment to transparency throughout the development process. They emphasized the importance of providing updates, even when they might not be favorable, underscoring their dedication to delivering a polished and enjoyable gaming experience for players eagerly awaiting the console release of Cities Skylines 2.
This delay marks another hurdle for Paradox Interactive as they strive to align the console release with the high standards set by the PC version. The studio’s focus remains on resolving technical issues to ensure that when Cities Skylines 2 does reach consoles, it meets the expectations of both existing fans and new players alike.
