The world of professional wrestling is about to get a whole lot more exciting as the General Entertainment Authority chairman of Saudi Arabia, Turki Alalshikh, has announced plans to bring mega WWE shows to the Middle East. This move is expected to take the WWE’s international reach to new heights, following the formation of the TKO, a global entertainment company created in partnership with the UFC in 2023.
According to reports, the Riyadh Season and the MMA promotion have signed a strategic agreement, paving the way for WWE to host premium live events in Saudi Arabia. In fact, the upcoming King and Queen of the Ring 2024 event is already scheduled to take place on May 25, 2024, at the Jeddah Super Dome.
Turki Alalshikh has hinted at even bigger things to come, including the possibility of bringing the iconic Royal Rumble or WrestleMania events to Saudi Arabia. WWE has been holding at least one premium live event in the country since 2018, and this latest development is set to take the promotion’s international presence to new heights.
The King and Queen of the Ring event is shaping up to be a thrilling affair, with matches already announced, including Sami Zayn vs. Chad Gable vs. Bronson Reed for the Intercontinental Championship, and Becky Lynch defending her Women’s World Championship against Liv Morgan. Fans can also look forward to the King of the Ring tournament, with Gunther, Jey Uso, and Ilja Dragunov having already advanced to the next round.
Triple H, WWE’s COO, took to Twitter to express his excitement about the upcoming event, stating that WWE Superstars will have the opportunity to defend their championships and put on a spectacular show in Jeddah.
While details of Turki Alalshikh’s “big news” about the WWE deal are still under wraps, fans are eagerly anticipating the announcement, which is expected to be made later this month. One thing is certain – the world of professional wrestling is about to get a whole lot more exciting, and Saudi Arabia is set to be at the forefront of the action.
