In honor of May the 4th, Lucasfilm has revealed the trailer for their newest Star Wars series, The Acolyte, offering a tantalizing look into the identity of the villain.
“Last night…a Jedi was murdered,” declares the trailer, setting the tone for the mystery that unfolds. You can watch the trailer below.

In The Acolyte, a chilling crime spree prompts a high-stakes investigation, pitting a revered Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a formidable foe from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As they delve deeper into the shadows, they uncover unsettling truths that challenge everything they know….
The ensemble cast includes Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss.
Created by Leslye Headland and inspired by George Lucas’s Star Wars universe, The Acolyte boasts an impressive lineup of executive producers, including Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef. Charmaine DeGraté and Kor Adana serve as co-executive producers, while Rayne Roberts, Damian Anderson, Eileen Shim, and Rob Bredow handle production duties.
Headland takes the helm as director for the premiere episodes (Eps. 101 & 102), with Kogonada (Eps. 103 & 107), Alex Garcia Lopez (Eps. 104 & 105), and Hanelle Culpepper (Eps. 106 & 108) rounding out the directorial team.
Michael Abels, acclaimed for his work on Get Out and Us, provides the score for The Acolyte.
The live-action series debuts on Tuesday, June 4, exclusively on Disney+, with the first two episodes dropping simultaneously. Set roughly a century before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, The Acolyte promises a fresh and intriguing narrative.
