World of Warcraft players are seeing some long-awaited updates with the recent fix for a decade-old bug, which has brought some long-overdue mounts and achievements to light. This update addresses an issue related to the Warlord’s Deathwheel mount, which had been elusive for many players due to a glitch that persisted for ten years.
Recently, a World of Warcraft player inquired on the forums about receiving a free Warlord’s Deathwheel mount after logging into an old Mists of Pandaria character. The mount appeared on their main account, sparking curiosity and confusion among other players. It was revealed that the mount was part of a promotion from 2014, which was not accessible to everyone at the time due to the aforementioned bug.
As more players joined the discussion, it became clear that the mount’s availability was tied to a specific promotion from a decade ago, making it a rare item. The community speculated that the original poster’s account had been flagged to receive the mount despite not actually obtaining it during the promotion.
This led to confirmation from community manager Randy ‘Kaivax’ Jordan, who explained that a bug during the initial rollout caused the issue.
The Warlord’s Deathwheel was originally part of a promotional event involving a collaboration between Warcraft and American Chopper. This event, which aired as an eight-episode web series, featured a competition between Alliance and Horde teams to design and build custom chopper bikes. The winning design, a Horde-themed motorbike, was intended to be awarded to players who logged in during August 2014.
With the recent update fixing the bug, players who missed out on the Warlord’s Deathwheel and potentially other achievements are finally receiving them. Although these rewards come years later than intended, the fix allows affected players to claim what was rightfully theirs, making the update a welcome correction in the World of Warcraft community.
