The WWE universe is still reeling from the action-packed Backlash event in France, and tonight’s episode of Monday Night RAW is set to kick off the fallout. WWE Chairman Triple H took to social media to hype up fans for what promises to be one of the biggest events of the year – the King and Queen of the Ring Premium Live Event (PLE) on May 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The King and Queen of the Ring Tournaments are set to get underway tonight on RAW, with the opening rounds featuring some of the biggest names in the WWE.
The men’s tournament will see Rey Mysterio take on Kofi Kingston, Gunther face off against Sheamus, and Ricochet clash with Ilja Dragunov. Meanwhile, the Queen of the Ring Tournament will kick off with Natalya vs. IYO SKY, Ivy Nile vs. Zoey Stark, Shayna Baszler vs. Zelina Vega, and Lyra Valkyria vs. Asuka.
However, a major wrench has been thrown into the plans with the announcement that Drew McIntyre is not medically cleared to compete due to an elbow injury. The Scottish Warrior was set to face Finn Balor in the opening round of the King of the Ring Tournament, but his replacement has not been officially announced. Rumors are swirling about who will step into McIntyre’s shoes, but the WWE has remained tight-lipped about the details.
Triple H’s promotional poster for the King and Queen of the Ring PLE features a star-studded lineup, including United States Champion Logan Paul, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn, Women’s World Champion Becky Lynch, and Women’s Tag Team Champions Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair. The event promises to be a spectacle, with standard title matches on the card and a host of thrilling matchups.
The King and Queen of the Ring PLE will air live on Peacock at 12pm ET on May 25, with no Kickoff pre-show announced as of yet. With the WWE returning to the Saudi Kingdom for another epic event, fans are eagerly anticipating the action-packed tournament and what promises to be a night to remember.
As the King and Queen of the Ring Tournaments heat up, one thing is certain – the WWE universe is in for a wild ride. With the fallout from Backlash still fresh in our minds, the road to the PLE is shaping up to be an unpredictable and thrilling journey. Buckle up, wrestling fans – it’s going to be a bumpy ride!
