AEW is set to broadcast footage depicting the incident that led to CM Punk’s dismissal from the promotion.
The altercation between Punk and Jack Perry backstage at the All In pay-per-view in London’s Wembley Stadium resulted in both individuals being suspended, with Punk ultimately receiving his termination notice.
Only fragments of information regarding the fight had been disclosed to the public prior to Punk’s revealing interview on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, in which he provided his perspective on the altercation.
Multiple reports indicate that Tony Khan, who was notably displeased with Punk’s interview, has decided to release the previously unseen footage during Dynamite.
During a discussion on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez delved into the situation and shed light on why Khan has opted to release footage of the incident, which left him feeling concerned for his safety.
Alvarez confirmed,
“It is true that on Dynamite, Tony is airing the Jack Perry-CM Punk footage from All In. It is not to bait and switch.”
Meltzer echoed this sentiment, stating,
“Well, I definitely can say that I definitely got it 100% confirmed.”
Alvarez elaborated, revealing, “Tony was very upset about Punk’s interview. And apparently, I was told that he wanted to air this footage a long time ago. And for whatever reason, he did not.
And now, I guess because of the timing and the interview and what Punk said, he is going to air it. And we’ve heard many sides of the story about what happened.
We’re going to see Wednesday, but I think it’s safe to say that if it were the story that Punk told, I don’t know why Tony would air the footage.”
CM Punk didn’t hold back in his candid assessment of AEW and Tony Khan during his appearance on the MMA Hour.
When questioned about his experience working for Khan, Punk offered blunt and unfiltered opinions.
