Veteran pro wrestler Dutch Mantell weighed in on the speculation surrounding Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s potential creative role in WWE, particularly in choosing his opponents.
The discussion arose after a dramatic turn of events at the WrestleMania Kickoff Press Event, where The Rock slapped Cody Rhodes for insulting Roman Reigns and had a confrontational encounter with Triple H backstage.
Addressing the buzz on an episode of Story Time with Dutch Mantell, the 74-year-old veteran shared his perspective on The Rock’s potential involvement in creative decisions within WWE.
Mantell doesn’t believe The Rock’s ultimate goal is to take over Triple H’s role as Chief Content Officer (CCO). Instead, he suggests that The Rock might want to have control over his own storyline and opponents, particularly if he continues to wrestle post-WrestleMania 40.
“No. I think The Rock if he’s going to do anything, I think he’s going to call his own stuff. That’s what he’s going to do. I don’t think he wants to get bogged down on a first match, second match, tag team, this that, and the other. Rock wants to handle his own stuff, build his own opponents that is if he is going to continue after WrestleMania,” Mantell expressed.
The veteran’s insight suggests that The Rock may seek a level of autonomy in shaping his wrestling storyline, focusing on his character and matches. Mantell’s comments provide a nuanced perspective, emphasizing The Rock’s desire to be involved in his own creative direction rather than taking over broader creative responsibilities in WWE.
Additionally, Mantell speculated on The Rock’s potential role at WrestleMania 40, suggesting that The Great One could become the special guest referee in a match involving Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns.
As the storyline unfolds, fans await developments on the Road to WrestleMania and potential appearances by real-life Bloodline members, including The Rock, Paul Heyman, and Roman Reigns on the upcoming SmackDown episode.
