The UK-based gaming website, The Loadout, has been shut down. The closure was confirmed by former deputy editor Jamie Hore, who announced that July 8 was the team’s final day working on the site. The Loadout, established in October 2019 as Network N’s second original brand, initially focused on esports before expanding to cover console games. It was a fully owned subsidiary of Network N Media Limited.
Jamie Hore shared his sentiments about the closure on social media, expressing gratitude for his time at The Loadout and highlighting the privilege of being part of the site since its inception. He noted that while the last few months were particularly challenging, his overall experience was marked by valuable lessons, talented colleagues, and many positive moments.
The Loadout’s closure affects four permanent staff members directly, although layoffs had begun earlier with key team members, including the guides team, being let go at the end of 2023. This indicates a gradual scaling down of operations before the complete shutdown.
Additionally, Network N Media has been experiencing broader financial difficulties, as evidenced by the recent layoffs of roughly a third of the staff at its video games marketing agency, Project N. This wider context of company-wide cutbacks likely contributed to the decision to shut down The Loadout.
