Tencent is shutting down its free-to-play shooter game, Synced, exactly one year after its launch. The company has not provided a specific reason for the closure. They informed players that while they could continue to enjoy the game and use any existing in-game items until the termination date, Synced would be fully retired at 7 pm on September 8 (GMT -8).
In preparation for the shutdown, Synced has disabled new registrations and closed its in-app store. Next Studios, the game’s developer, expressed gratitude to the players for being part of the community in a message posted on Steam, informing them about the game’s retirement.
Synced has received mixed user reviews on Steam. However, many recent reviews have been mostly negative, with players frequently complaining about issues related to matchmaking and game stability. These problems likely contributed to the game’s declining popularity.
