The world of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) was left stunned when Samoa Joe, the former AEW World Champion, lost his title to Swerve Strickland at AEW Dynasty.
However, according to wrestling legend Bill Apter, this may not be the last we’ve seen of Samoa Joe.
In a recent episode of Wrestling’s The Wrestling Time Machine podcast, Apter expressed his belief that Joe could return soon and have a massive rematch against Strickland.
Apter praised Strickland’s victory, stating that it was well-deserved and long overdue.
“It was Swerve Strickland’s house, he did a great job. He’s been around for many years and CZW and so many of the other independents and in Japan, and it’s about time he did this,”
Apter said. However, he also emphasized that Samoa Joe is one of the toughest shooters ever and will likely be back for more.
Swerve Strickland himself has spoken highly of Samoa Joe, calling him a “legend” and a “force of a champion.”
In an interview with Renee Paquette after their match, Strickland praised Joe for being a dominant champion and acknowledged the difficulty of taking him down.
“What do you do to take this guy down? Shout out to him for holding it down for the last couple of months, he has been, like a dominant champion,”
Strickland said.
The possibility of a rematch between Samoa Joe and Swerve Strickland is certainly intriguing.
Both men have proven themselves to be formidable opponents, and their previous match was nothing short of spectacular. If Joe does return, it will be interesting to see how he approaches a potential rematch against Strickland.
One thing is certain: Samoa Joe’s loss to Swerve Strickland has only added fuel to the fire. With Apter predicting a massive rematch on the horizon, fans are eagerly anticipating what’s next for these two wrestling giants. Will Samoa Joe return to reclaim his title, or will Swerve Strickland continue to reign supreme as the new AEW World Champion? Only time will tell.
