Ronda Rousey, now retired from the wrestling world, recently opened up about her retirement in an interview promoting her upcoming book. She revealed the true reason behind her departure, admitting she had kept it under wraps for years.
Although Rousey’s wrestling stint concluded sooner than anticipated, leaving some fans disappointed, she made her final WWE appearance in a match against Shayna Baszler at SummerSlam 2023, which Baszler won.
While she later had one-off matches with Wrestling Revolver and ROH alongside Marina Shafir, these were not a return to full-time wrestling.
In her candid interview on Never Before Told, promoting her book “Our Fight,” Rousey disclosed her retirement from wrestling and competitive sports altogether. She cited her undisclosed history of concussions as the primary reason for stepping away.
“I had to keep my concussion history a secret for years so I could continue to compete and perform. That’s basically why I had to retire,”
Rousey explained.
In the interview, Rousey didn’t hold back, calling out certain backstage officials from her WWE tenure. Her book, set for release on April 2, promises further revelations.
Rousey also made it clear in the interview that she has no intentions of returning to WWE, criticizing the company’s management. She stated,
“They can’t hold a sword over my head and, like, hold me hostage with my own career, and I don’t need anything from them, and I don’t intend on going back so I can actually say everything that I think and feel.”
As fans eagerly anticipate the release of her book for more insights into her experiences, Ronda Rousey’s revelations continue to generate buzz and intrigue within the wrestling community.
