Roblox Corp Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder Dave Baszucki has set a new goal for the company: to capture 10% of the global video game content revenue.
Baszucki shared this ambition at the Roblox developer conference on Friday, explaining that the company plans to achieve this by collaborating with major tech companies such as Apple Inc., Alphabet Inc., and Tencent Holdings Ltd.
He noted that the current gaming market generates $180 billion in annual content revenue.
As part of its growth strategy, Roblox announced a new partnership with Shopify Inc., which will allow users to sell physical products through digital experiences on the Roblox platform.
The company also unveiled plans for a new program that will enable paid-access experiences on desktop versions to be priced in real currency, rather than just Robux.
This change aims to provide creators with a larger share of the revenue generated from these transactions.
Roblox remains one of the most popular gaming platforms, particularly among children, and is available on consoles, smartphones, tablets, and PCs.
Each day, 79 million people log in to enjoy its variety of user-created games. Over the past year, Roblox has paid out more than $800 million to its community of game developers, Baszucki said.
In 2022, the company generated $2.8 billion in sales. On Friday, Baszucki expressed confidence that Roblox will be able to capture 10% of gaming content revenue once the platform reaches 300 million daily active users.
He also reiterated his long-term goal for Roblox to eventually achieve 1 billion daily active users.
