Third-party publishers are reconsidering their ongoing support for Xbox consoles, raising concerns about Microsoft’s performance in Europe, according to a recent report by Chris Dring, the head of GamesIndustry.biz.
During last week’s Game Developer’s Conference, Dring highlighted a prevailing sentiment regarding Microsoft and Xbox. He noted,
“The other thing I heard—I heard it from a very prominent company and one not so prominent—was Xbox’s performance in Europe is just flatlining.”
Dring further elaborated on the decline in Xbox sales, stating,
“You can follow our monthly coverage in the games market, and you can see that Xbox sales are falling, and it’s been falling all throughout last year, and it’s falling even harder this year.”
He also quoted a major company, which released a significant game last year, expressing uncertainty, saying, “I don’t know why we bothered supporting it.”
Additionally, it was indicated that third-party publishers currently perceive the market as primarily revolving around PC and PS5. However, it remains unclear whether the referenced publishers are European-based or from other regions.
