In 2024, the professional wrestling world has seen the dawn of new eras across various promotions.
WWE has embarked on what is being labeled as “The Renaissance Era,” while significant changes in management have unfolded in companies like STARDOM, NJPW, and TNA.
AEW, too, underwent a notable transformation, unveiling a completely revamped look on the March 6 episode of “AEW Dynamite.”
Playing a pivotal role in this visual overhaul was Co-Executive Producer Mike Mansury, who candidly shared his thoughts on the process during the “AEW Unrestricted” podcast.
“I saw the new graphics, and I’m not going to lie to you, and this has nothing to do with the fact that I spent the bulk of my career there.
But I remember walking into Climate Pledge that day and when they were starting to run through elements and stuff, I looked and was like, ‘That looks like a Survivor Series sort of look,'” Mansury revealed.
He noted that initially, Tony Khan aimed for a design reminiscent of the original “American Gladiators” aesthetic.
Mansury explained that after embracing a throwback look for the 200th episode of “Dynamite” in 2023, the intention behind the rebranding in 2024 was to pay homage to the original appearance from 2019 while infusing it with a contemporary feel that would stand out five years later.
However, there was one specific element Khan was keen on resurrecting with a modern twist:
“Tony really wanted to bring the tunnels back.”
