The much-anticipated Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus update is finally on the horizon, slated for release on March 7, as confirmed by developer Insomniac Games.
Taking to Twitter, Insomniac shared the news, stating, “Our next update is coming March 7. Our title update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 arrives next month and adds highly requested features like New Game Plus, new suits, and more! Watch our social media for a complete list of features closer to release.”
Back in December, Insomniac had teased some of the upcoming features, including “the ability to change the time of day, swap tendril colors, and replay missions,” alongside other undisclosed additions. While the New Game Plus update had initially been hinted at for a 2023 release, the inclusion of these additional features helps soften the blow of the delay.
Though specifics regarding these features were not provided in today’s announcement, Community Manager Aaron Jason Espinoza hinted at “some pretty cool stuff” in store, addressing significant requests from the community and indicating the studio’s confidence in satisfying fans.
As for the “new suits” mentioned, details remain elusive, but fans have already begun speculating and expressing their hopes. There’s also speculation about a potential DLC announcement, fueled in part by information stemming from the hack Insomniac experienced last year.
While the veracity of such leaks is uncertain, given the fluid nature of game development plans, the teaser for a story involving Carnage within Spider-Man 2 itself suggests that the studio might explore this narrative arc in future updates.
