PC gamers who have eagerly awaited the arrival of Horizon Forbidden West on their preferred platform can now mark their calendars. The action-adventure sequel is set to release on both Steam and the Epic Games Store in its Complete Edition form on March 21st.
Horizon Forbidden West, which continues the captivating adventures of protagonist Aloy in a vibrant open world inhabited by majestic robot wildlife, initially debuted on PS4 and PS5 in February 2022, with its Burning Shores expansion following the next year.
The Complete Edition, initially launched for PlayStation in October of the previous year, combines the base game and expansion, along with a collection of in-game items.
These include an exclusive pose and face paint for Photo Mode, along with five items unlockable through story progression: the Carja Behemoth Elite outfit and Short Bow, the Nora Thunder Elite outfit and Sling, the Apex Clawstrider Machine Strike piece, and a resource pack containing ammunition, potions, and travel packs.
Pre-purchasing the PC Complete Edition offers the Blacktide Outfit and Bow while linking a Steam account to PlayStation unlocks the Nora Legacy Outfit and Spear.
As for PC-specific features, they have been outlined and presented in a trailer available on the PlayStation Blog. Developed by Nixxes Software in collaboration with Guerrilla Games, the PC version boasts unlocked frame rates, customizable graphics settings, and a wide range of performance-enhancing technologies.
It supports Nvidia DLSS 3 upscaling and frame generation, Nvidia DLAA, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS. DirectStorage is employed on compatible PCs for quicker loading times.
In addition, the PC version supports 21:9 ultra-wide, 32:9 super ultra-wide, and 48:9 resolutions, along with compatibility for triple-monitor setups.
Customizable mouse and keyboard controls are included, and controller options cover the PlayStation DualSense, taking advantage of its adaptive triggers, as well as Steam Input support for remapping and customization of selected peripherals.
Although Sony has not yet disclosed the system requirements for Horizon Forbidden West on PC, the company has assured that this information will be shared closer to the release date on Epic and Steam, slated for March 21st.
