All Elite Wrestling (AEW) fans, rejoice! After a 500-day hiatus, fan-favorite star Tay Melo is finally gearing up for her in-ring return. The Brazilian grappler has been absent from the ring since January 11, 2023, when she and Anna Jay lost to Ruby Soho and Willow Nightingale in a Street Fight at the Rampage tapings. Since then, Melo has been focused on growing her family, welcoming a baby daughter with her husband, Sammy Guevara, on November 28, 2023.
However, according to Fightful Select, Melo is now back in training, preparing to step back into the ring and continue her career with AEW. This news is sure to excite fans who have been eagerly awaiting her return. Despite her absence, Melo has remained a presence in the AEW universe, making appearances and participating in segments, including the August segment that saw The Jericho Appreciation Society disband.
While Melo’s return is imminent, there is currently no word on any specific creative plans for her character. It will be interesting to see how AEW chooses to re-integrate her into the women’s division, which has undergone significant changes during her absence.
In related news, her husband, Sammy Guevara, has been serving a suspension since February of this year, following his actions in the Rampage Street Fight win over Jeff Hardy. His last match took place in late February, where he lost to Powerhouse Hobbs in a Street Fight.
Tonight, AEW Dynamite will take place from the Mechanics Bank Arena in Bakersfield, California, featuring the go-home build for Sunday’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view from Las Vegas. Rampage will also be taped, while Saturday’s Collision will air live from Vegas. The Control Center preview for tonight has been released, featuring Tony Schiavone.
The current Dynamite lineup includes several exciting matches, with more expected to be added to the Double or Nothing card tonight. As AEW gears up for its next major pay-per-view event, fans can expect an action-packed week of wrestling action. With Tay Melo’s return on the horizon, the women’s division is about to get a whole lot more interesting.
