Kurt Angle, renowned for his wrestling prowess spanning from 1999 to 2018 in WWE and TNA, is revered as one of the premier in-ring talents of his era, often hailed as one of the greatest wrestlers in history.
With a blend of agility, strength, and technical finesse, Angle consistently delivered performances that set a high standard for excellence in the ring.
While his influence resonates with many contemporary stars, who does Angle believe stands out in today’s wrestling world?
In a conversation with Wrestling Life Online, Angle singled out Kenny Omega and Bryan Danielson as two wrestlers whom he regards as the cream of the crop:
“The one guy that’s turning my head right now, and he continues to do it, is Kenny Omega. Him and Bryan Danielson, those two, I really think they’re the best today.”
In a recent Twitch stream, Kenny Omega reciprocated the admiration, labeling Angle as the greatest of all time.
Angle expressed gratitude for Omega’s acknowledgment and expressed regret that they never had the opportunity to face off in the ring:
“I’m very grateful that Kenny Omega actually said that I was the greatest of all time and that when he needs to watch film of wrestlers, I’m the one he watches.
It was like, ‘Wow,’ I feel the same way about him, you know, it’s a mutual respect, but I think both of us feel that would have had a five-star match if we were to wrestle.”
While Angle’s career boasts an impressive array of matches, he also recalled a rare instance where things didn’t go as planned. On his podcast, Angle reminisced about a match where he inadvertently injured his opponent, describing it as “a nightmare of a match.”
