Last night’s Backlash France event kicked off with an explosive start, as Kevin Owens and Randy Orton took on The Bloodline in a highly anticipated match. However, the action began before the bell even rang, as the four men decided to forgo the formalities and get straight to business.
The ensuing chaos saw Kevin Owens take out anyone who dared to stand in his way, including security guards. But, amidst the mayhem, a familiar face caught the attention of fans – a former WWE Superstar who last wrestled in the company eight years ago.
The surprise returnee was none other than Sylvester Lefort, whose real name is Thomas La Ruffa. The 40-year-old French wrestler worked in WWE’s developmental brand, NXT, for four years between 2012-2016.
His last match was in June 2015, when he teamed up with Jason Jordan in a losing effort against Enzo Amore and Big Cass. After being released by WWE in 2016, Lefort went on to wrestle in TNA, before moving to the independent circuit.
It came as a surprise to many when WWE requested his services for Backlash, and he was seen playing the role of a security guard on SmackDown just 24 hours prior. However, his night took a dramatic turn when he was slammed onto the announce table by Randy Orton, and later found himself on the receiving end of Kevin Owens’ wrath.
The chaos eventually led to SmackDown GM, Nick Aldis, intervening and changing the stipulation of the match to a Street Fight. This move gave Owens and Orton the freedom to unleash their aggression on The Bloodline, using everything from garbage cans to steel chairs to get the job done. Despite their best efforts, they were ultimately unable to secure the win.
In a shocking twist, Tama Tonga’s brother, Tanga Loa, made a surprise debut, attacking both Randy Orton and Kevin Owens with steel steps. This allowed Solo Sikoa to take advantage and deliver a devastating Samoan Spike to The Prizefighter, securing the win for The Bloodline.
