WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam has recently received recognition for his significant influence in the professional wrestling industry.
Renowned for his high-flying style, which seamlessly blended various martial arts disciplines, RVD made a mark during the ’90s in ECW, subsequently leaving his imprint on WWE and TNA.
However, questions arose, particularly during his ECW tenure, about the sustainability of his career due to his daring style.
During a recent Twitch stream, former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega shared insights on RVD’s enduring fitness, reminiscing about watching him during his formative years.
“Many assumed RVD’s high-flying, seemingly self-destructive style would curtail his longevity,” Omega reflected. “High-flyers, in general, subject their bodies to immense strain, especially someone like RVD.
He’s no lightweight, especially in his youth, boasting a robust physique and leaping abilities that seemed to defy gravity. While some wrestlers simply drop from the top, RVD soared to unimaginable heights and returned unscathed.”
RVD continues to demonstrate his prowess with notable appearances in AEW, engaging in encounters with talents like Swerve Strickland and Jack Perry since debuting for the promotion in 2023.
His recent victory in a four-way elimination match against Komander, Isiah Kassidy, and Lee Johnson on the April 20 edition of “AEW Rampage” underscores his enduring ability to fascinate audiences.
