As the Oscars draw near, Jimmy Kimmel, the host of the upcoming award show, orchestrated a delightful reunion of some cast members from Barbie in a promotional video released online.
The nearly five-minute video, posted on the official Jimmy Kimmel Live YouTube channel, kicks off with Helen Mirren, the narrator for Barbie, setting the stage. She humorously narrates Kimmel’s adventure in Barbie Land, a whimsical setting inspired by the film.
As the video unfolds, Kimmel encounters Kate McKinnon’s quirky interpretation of Barbie, and the two embark on a whimsical journey reminiscent of Margot Robbie’s character’s escapades in the film.
Rather than exploring typical Barbie Land attractions, Kimmel and McKinnon’s characters explore locations inspired by various Oscar-nominated films such as Poor Things, Oppenheimer, and The Holdovers, among others.
The video culminates with surprise appearances by Ryan Gosling’s Ken and America Ferrera’s Gloria, adding to the fun and antics. Notably, the video also playfully ribs certain Hollywood actors and references the post-show tradition of winners visiting In-N-Out.
The 96th Academy Awards are set to air live on ABC at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT on Sunday, March 10th. Among the notable nominations are Cillian Murphy for Best Actor in Oppenheimer and Ryan Gosling for Best Supporting Actor in Barbie.
