Jacob Batalon, known for his role as Ned Leeds in the Spider-Man: Homecoming trilogy, recently expressed his personal uncertainty and a tinge of excitement about the future of his character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). During promotion for his latest movie, Tarot, Batalon admitted he is unaware of what lies ahead for Ned and other characters in the MCU, but he’s also intrigued by the endless possibilities.
Batalon reflected on the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Peter Parker (played by Tom Holland) uses a spell to erase everyone’s memory of him, including Ned and MJ (Zendaya). This leaves Ned isolated, without any recollection of his close friendship with Peter.
Possibility of Becoming Hobgoblin
Addressing speculation about Ned’s future, Batalon entertained the idea of his character taking a darker turn by becoming Hobgoblin in Spider-Man 4. He referenced concept art from No Way Home showing Ned with Norman Osborn’s Goblin Glider. Batalon remained open to the possibility, suggesting that anything could happen in future MCU instalments.
Status of Spider-Man 4
Sony and Marvel Studios have not yet announced a writer or director for Spider-Man 4. Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man, confirmed his involvement and shared that he is actively participating in the creative process to develop Peter Parker’s next chapter. Holland emphasized the importance of protecting the legacy established by previous films and ensuring that the next instalment offers something fresh and engaging.
Spider-Man 4 is currently in development, with no official release date announced. Meanwhile, fans can enjoy the Spider-Man: Homecoming trilogy, which is available for streaming on Disney+.
