Intercontinental Champion Gunther has a fresh moniker in store ahead of tonight’s WWE SmackDown. Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns are all set for a showdown during the episode in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The Imperium leader has locked in his opponent for WrestleMania XL. Sami Zayn clinched a title shot after winning a Gauntlet match on a recent WWE RAW episode.
While many fans were cheering for Chad Gable in the match, reports suggest the former Bloodline member wasn’t pleased with the crowd’s reaction.

Gunther and Zayn sealed the deal by signing the contract for their title match this past Monday night on RAW.
Before tonight’s SmackDown, the Intercontinental Champion made waves on social media by giving himself a new title. He dubbed himself “The Champion” and shared a video of his entrance, as seen in his post below.
“The Champion,”
he proudly declared.
Former WWE star Bryan Clark (Adam Bomb) recently shared his thoughts on the Intercontinental Champion, praising Gunther for his standout performance. Surpassing The Honky Tonk Man, Gunther now holds the record for the longest Intercontinental Championship reign.
His upcoming WrestleMania match against Sami Zayn offers him a chance to extend this impressive streak.
Speaking on UnSKripted show with Bill Apter, Clark expressed his admiration for Gunther’s talent and toughness, acknowledging his own aspirations for a championship run in the past.
“Ooh, he’s tough. That’s another guy that stands out like unbelievable man. He is really good.”
Chad Gable didn’t hold back in his assessment of Sami Zayn’s chances against the Intercontinental Champion on the latest RAW episode.
It remains to be seen what plans the promotion has in store for the Alpha Academy member at WrestleMania.
