Get ready to experience the latest adventure in the Final Fantasy universe as The Rising Tide expansion makes its debut this week. Brace yourselves for epic battles and new challenges as you journey to the mystical land of Mysidia to confront the legendary Leviathan.
Square Enix is set to drop the second DLC for Final Fantasy 16, following the success of Echoes of the Fallen last December. In The Rising Tide, players will join Clive and his companions on a quest to uncover the secrets of the Dominant of Leviathan, the powerful Eikon of water. Of course, facing off against Leviathan itself is inevitable, offering the chance to harness its formidable powers for your own.
Mysidia isn’t just another stop on your journey – it’s a whole new realm teeming with fresh side stories and the return of the fearsome Tonberry enemies, now beefed up like they’ve been hitting the gym for a decade. Plus, get ready to level up with an increased level cap of 60 in the main mode and 110 in New Game+.
And don’t forget about the thrilling new Kairos Gate mode, where players must tackle various combat scenarios akin to Bloody Palace from the Devil May Cry series.
In addition to the gameplay enhancements, players who grab The Rising Tide or the Expansion Pass will score some sweet bonus items from Final Fantasy 14. Expect a revamped version of the iconic Curtana weapon and new Orchestrion Rolls featuring tunes from the beloved MMO to liven up your hideaway.
While Square Enix hasn’t dropped a concrete release time, we’re betting on a global launch at midnight local time, based on the pattern from the previous DLC expansion, Echoes of the Fallen. So mark your calendars for Thursday, April 18 at 12am BST / 12am EDT and Wednesday, April 17 at 9pm PDT for what promises to be an unforgettable journey into Final Fantasy lore.
