Gang Dong-won, the popular South Korean actor, is set to portray his chilliest character yet in the upcoming crime film “The Plot.” The movie promises a gripping storyline filled with unexpected turns.
In “The Plot,” Gang Dong-won plays the role of Yeong-il, a guy who organizes secret killings to look like accidents. However, things take a surprising turn when Yeong-il finds himself caught up in a series of events that make him believe he’s the target of a planned murder disguised as an accident.
Director Lee Yo-sub, known for his previous work on the crime film “The Queen of Crime,” promises a movie packed with twists and characters hiding secrets. All the characters in the film have something to hide. Audiences will enjoy discovering their hidden agendas as said Lee Yo-sub during a press conference in Seoul.
The movie is full of suspenseful conversations, where characters must be careful what they reveal due to their risky professions, Lee added.
The Plot: A movie whose ‘Plot’ is taken from ‘Accident’
“The Plot” is actually a remake of a 2009 Hong Kong film called “Accident.” Director Lee adapted it to suit South Korean audiences, incorporating modern elements like social media influencers known as “cyber wreckers.”
Gang Dong-won was the perfect choice for the lead role because of his unique dark energy, as Lee explained. He brings a mysterious aura to the character of Yeong-il.
According to Gang, Yeong-il is the most emotionless character he’s ever portrayed. In previous films like “Dr. Cheon and the Lost Talisman” and “Broker,” Gang played more expressive characters. Yeong-il is incredibly cold and detached. Gang focused on portraying him as unfeeling and always searching for solutions.
“The Plot” is set to premiere in local theaters on May 29, promising audiences a thrilling ride through a world of secrets and deception.
