The Game Devs of Color Expo (GDoCExpo) has proudly announced the return of its presentation for its ninth annual showcase.
Scheduled from September 18 to September 21, this year’s event will take place online, inviting submissions for panels, speakers, and games.
Catt Small, co-organizer of Game Devs of Color Expo, emphasized the Expo’s commitment to centering creators of color without reducing them to mere tokens of diversity. “Our event is fully centered around creators of color without being a diversity zoo,” Small stated. “We continue to focus on the thought and creativity that our community puts into making their unique games.”
Small further highlighted the inclusive ethos of the Expo, stating, “As a speaker at GDoCExpo, you won’t need to reveal traumatic experiences for others to consume. We want to hear what you love about making games — what inspires you and how you build your work. Non-technical and technical talks are all welcome.”
Since 2019, GDoCExpo has made significant strides in supporting game developers of color, having distributed a total of $390,000 towards this cause. Notably, in 2022, it officially became a non-profit organization, further solidifying its commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion within the gaming industry.
