AI Limit, an upcoming action-roleplaying game, blends Soulslike combat with the sleek animation reminiscent of Nier Automata, promising some of the most impressive boss battles of the year based on early glimpses.
The game unfolds in a distant futuristic world where humanity faces peril, and the landscape bears the scars of devastation. Players assume the role of an acrobatic warrior on a quest for new life, a narrative that draws inspiration from familiar post-apocalyptic themes.
Society crumbled after ecological disasters and anticipated wars, leaving nature unable to recover. In its place, a destructive substance known as the Mud has spread across the land.
The released trailer offers a glimpse into the game’s desolate environment, showcasing familiar sword-swinging and teasing formidable bosses that have already generated considerable anticipation.
According to information on the Steam page, some of these bosses are described as “warriors who lose themselves and degenerate into crazy beasts,” hinting at the potential for poignant backstories interwoven with stylish showdowns.
Highlighted among the bosses is a mechanized centaur gracefully sliding across the battlefield, a dragon-like creature hovering above that seemingly creates a literal black hole, and a colossal machine so immense it appears to be hanging off the side of a building, though briefly shown.
The roster also includes humanoid bosses wielding thunder-imbued hammers, adding variety to the anticipated confrontations and providing AI Limit’s combat measures up to the standards set by other Souls-like games.
AI Limit faces the challenge of following the success of the Soulslike subgenre in 2023, marked by notable titles such as Lies of P with its fairytale twists, Lords of the Fallen featuring a dual worlds gimmick, and Remnant 2’s innovative shooty Soulslike remix. The game is slated for release in 2024 on PC and PS5.
