George Miller’s “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” is set to reveal the intriguing origin story of Furiosa, a character with a relentless drive to return home. The film will be available for digital purchase and rental starting June 25, followed by its release on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on August 13. This eagerly anticipated addition to the Mad Max franchise promises to delve deeper into the backstory of one of its most compelling characters.
The digital and Blu-ray versions of “Furiosa” will include a special feature titled “Highway to Valhalla: In Pursuit of Furiosa.” This documentary-style feature will explore the making of this action-packed film, providing fans with behind-the-scenes insights into the production process and the creative vision behind the movie.
The storyline of “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” follows a young Furiosa (played by Anya Taylor-Joy) who is captured from her home in the Green Place of Many Mothers by a Biker Horde led by Warlord Dementus (portrayed by Chris Hemsworth).
As they journey through the desolate Wasteland, they encounter the Citadel, ruled by The Immortan Joe. The narrative centers around Furiosa’s struggle to survive the brutal environment and the conflict between two tyrants, all while she devises a plan to return to her homeland.
In addition to the standard release, a unique “Black & Chrome Edition” of “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” will be available later in the year. This version of the film will be presented in a monochromatic black and chrome visual style, enhancing the stark and gritty aesthetic of the Mad Max universe. Director George Miller will introduce this special edition, offering his insights into this artistic choice.
Furthermore, a comprehensive 5-film collection will be released on 4K Ultra HD, including all the films in the Mad Max series: the original “Mad Max” (1979), “Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior” (1981), “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome” (1985), “Mad Max: Fury Road” (2015), and the latest addition, “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” (2024).
This collection celebrates the legacy of the Mad Max franchise, all directed or co-directed by George Miller, highlighting its evolution and enduring appeal over the decades.
