Tyrese Gibson recently opened up about the challenges Fast & Furious 11 is facing, revealing that filming delays due to industry-wide strikes might affect its release schedule. According to Gibson, filming is now set to begin in early 2025, raising doubts about meeting the originally planned April 2025 release date. He stated:
“Because of the strike, both strikes, there were some real delays in writing and kind of getting the film up on its feet. I’m hearing that we’re going to get it going right in 2025, right at the top of the year.”
Despite the setbacks, the delays have given Universal Pictures the chance to refine the film’s conclusion. Vin Diesel, who plays the franchise’s main character, has been keeping fans engaged with behind-the-scenes glimpses, showcasing cast gatherings and stunt preparations.
Fast & Furious 11 is expected to resume where Fast X left off, resolving the suspenseful cliffhanger involving Dom Toretto and his son, Little B. The return of Jason Momoa as Dante Reyes, coupled with hints from director Louis Leterrier about a revamped character arc, promises an intriguing twist to the storyline.
Gibson also shared insights about the creative team’s response to fan feedback, indicating a shift towards a more grounded approach, away from the fantastical elements seen in recent films. He said:
“I know that fans over the years have been wanting to kind of ground the film and get back to more of the street racing… I think right now they’re in the basement, they’re riding, they’re cooking, they’re really trying to pull it together.”
Acknowledging the fans’ desires for a return to the franchise’s roots, Gibson emphasized the film’s primary goal: entertainment. He concluded by emphasizing the entertainment value that The Fast and The Furious franchise has consistently delivered.
