The highly anticipated fan project, Fallout London, which brings the post-apocalyptic RPG to England, has been postponed indefinitely.
This decision was made to prevent clashes with Bethesda’s upcoming Fallout 4 next-gen update.
Fallout London, a massive mod for Fallout 4, is considered by many as a close substitute for Fallout 5, and fans have been eagerly awaiting its release.
Delayed caused by the Next-Gen update
Originally scheduled for April 23, the team behind Fallout London, known as Team FOLON, had been preparing diligently for this special release date. Unfortunately, Bethesda’s announcement of the Fallout 4 next-gen update arriving on April 25 prompted the delay. Project lead Dean ‘Prilladog’ Carter expressed disappointment, explaining that the years of hard work on the mod risked being disrupted by the update.
Carter highlighted that key features of Fallout London, such as the dialogue system, quests, perk systems, and artwork, would break due to the Fallout 4 update. He emphasized the challenges of coordinating with external modding systems and volunteers to address these issues promptly.
Despite the setback, Carter remains optimistic about the potential benefits of aligning Fallout London with the updated Fallout 4 engine. He praised GOG for providing a platform to distribute the mod and expressed hope for Bethesda’s support in the future to make Fallout London a standalone project.
Anticipated launch after post-delay
While the April 23 release date has been missed, fans can look forward to Fallout London’s launch once technical challenges are resolved. Carter concluded with a nod to Bethesda’s consistent support for updating their games, albeit causing delays for independent projects like Fallout London.
