In the wake of Janel Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon, several prominent figures associated with WWE have offered their perspectives, shedding light on a sensitive and controversial issue.
Among these voices, Kevin Owens has emerged as the latest to share his thoughts on the matter.
In an interview with Mail Online, Owens expressed his dismay at the allegations, acknowledging the profound impact they’ve had on the wrestling community. Describing the revelations as “awful” and “terrible,” Owens emphasized the need to prevent such occurrences from happening again:
“Everything that has come out is awful. Just terrible, there’s really no words to describe how sad this makes me feel. If the people spoke out went through what they went through, that’s terrible. It’s shameful and it can’t ever happen again,”
remarked Kevin Owens.
Owens, a former WWE Universal Champion, had a significant tenure under Vince McMahon’s leadership, including an on-screen storyline involving Vince and Shane McMahon in 2017.
Meanwhile, Randy Orton, a 14-time WWE World Champion, also weighed in on the controversy during an interview with the New York Post. Expressing a mixture of disbelief and understanding, Orton expressed hope that the allegations remain unsubstantiated:
“I’ve seen the horrible things online that I don’t want to believe because this man has done so many things for me. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have been given second and third chances [in WWE]. I wouldn’t be in the position that I’m in now if it wasn’t for that man,”
Orton conveyed to the New York Post.
Acknowledging McMahon’s contributions while grappling with the gravity of the accusations, Orton articulated the complexities of the situation:
“So part of me wants to not believe it and then the other part of me understands that he could have done all these wonderful things for me and the business and created this amazing thing that will go on and on well after he’s gone, but on the other hand he’s human and he made some f*king terrible mistakes,” reflected Orton.
As a cornerstone of WWE, McMahon’s relationships with wrestlers often extended beyond the ring, with both Owens and Orton having collaborated with McMahon in various on-screen capacities, underscoring the intricate dynamics within the wrestling industry.
