Eddie Munson, the fan-favorite character from Stranger Things, will be featured in a new comic series titled Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons: The Rise of Hellfire, published by Dark Horse Comics.
This limited series will explore Eddie’s background leading up to season 4, specifically focusing on how he became involved in Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) and helped establish the Hellfire Club. The comic is designed to give fans a deeper look at Eddie’s character and his relationships within the group.
Set to launch in winter 2025, the comic coincides with the 50th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons, marking a significant celebration of the game’s influence on popular culture. The four-issue series aims to showcase Eddie’s journey, highlighting his love for D&D and the friendships he built through the game. This release is highly anticipated among both Stranger Things enthusiasts and D&D fans.
Jody Houser, who co-wrote the previous Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons series, will lead the writing team for The Rise of Hellfire, joined by new co-writer Eric Campbell. Campbell brings his own D&D experience to the table, having worked on the story collection Dungeons & Dragons Worlds & Realms.
The artistic team includes Diego Galindo, who illustrated the earlier series, along with colorist Diana Sousa and letterer Nate Piekos, creating a cohesive visual style for returning readers.
The storyline will focus on Eddie’s rise to leadership within the Hellfire Club, showcasing key moments from the legendary campaign that drew him into the world of D&D.
Dark Horse describes the comic as a heartfelt farewell to Eddie, whose character gained immense popularity, particularly after his iconic guitar solo in season 4. The narrative is set to capture the spirit of friendship and adventure that D&D fosters among its players.
Although fans will have to wait until winter 2025 for the release, excitement is building around the project. A specific date has yet to be announced, but the series promises to enrich the Stranger Things universe, providing fans with a meaningful exploration of Eddie Munson’s character and his impact on the beloved show.
