CM Punk’s arrival in AEW sparked considerable excitement, heralding a potentially transformative phase in his career.
However, the momentum quickly fizzled out, leading to CM Punk sharing his thoughts on his brief tenure during an appearance on the MMA Hour.
In response to Punk’s interview, Eddie Kingston has offered his perspective on the matter.
During an extensive interview with Ariel Helwani, CM Punk delved into various aspects, including his return to WWE, departure from AEW, and numerous other subjects.
The conversation provided a look into the recent controversies and provided valuable insights into Punk’s professional journey.
When questioned by Adrian Hernandez about CM Punk’s recent remarks regarding AEW, particularly his comments on talent working only one day a week and his assessment that AEW is not a business, Eddie Kingston responded directly.
He emphasized that since Punk is not employed by AEW, his opinions hold little weight for them. Kingston clarified that he wasn’t perturbed by Punk’s comments; it’s simply his way of expressing himself.
Despite the potential for others to be affected, Kingston stressed his lack of concern due to Punk’s lack of affiliation with AEW.
Kingston suggested that if Punk were a member of AEW and made similar comments, he might briefly feel a certain way, but ultimately, he would accept it as part of Punk’s persona.
Kingston concluded by asserting that he cannot control Punk’s actions, and they are two distinct individuals, hence he doesn’t dwell on Punk’s statements.
“He doesn’t work for us, I don’t give a f***. He honestly doesn’t work for us, so I don’t care, that’s it. I’m not even mad. If it sounds like I’m mad, this is just the way I talk, but no, I don’t care.
I know other people do, but I really don’t give a f*** because he doesn’t work for AEW. That’s the way I look at it.
If he worked for AEW and did that, then I might feel a certain way for a little bit, and then I would just let it go and go, ‘Well, that’s Phil being Phil. Can’t control him; that’s his thing. He ain’t me, and I ain’t him, so I don’t care what he does.'”
We’ve also covered WWE and AEW’s reactions to CM Punk’s candid interview. Nonetheless, Eddie Kingston might not be the only AEW star to address CM Punk’s remarks, so it remains to be seen who else will weigh in on the matter.
