Cody Rhodes recently shared his thoughts on stepping aside for The Rock at WrestleMania XL.
Despite winning the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble, Rhodes initially gave up his spot in the main event to The Rock, only to reclaim it after fan backlash.
Reflecting on the turn of events in an interview with the SI Media podcast, Rhodes discussed his decision to stay silent amidst the chaos.
“My role in all of this was to stay silent throughout the chaos,”
he revealed.
“I couldn’t believe… I don’t want anyone getting unnecessary hate.”
Despite the uproar, Rhodes maintained his composure, believing everything would work out.
“I just still thought it’ll be fine,” he admitted. “Maybe I was in denial… But I just thought, ‘Nope, it’s gonna be fine.'”
Following his return to the main event scene, Rhodes embraced his new role, turning heel and aligning with The Bloodline.
He engaged in a heated feud with The Rock, culminating in a showdown at WrestleMania XL.
While The Rock emerged victorious on Night One, Rhodes stood his ground, refusing to back down. However, The Final Boss’s plans took a turn when he announced a hiatus from wrestling. Despite his departure, he made it clear to Rhodes that their rivalry was far from over.
Although The Rock’s return date remains uncertain, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry predicts a comeback before WrestleMania 41, setting the stage for another epic showdown between The Final Boss and Cody Rhodes.
