Following her stint alongside the “strongest Avenger” in the latest Mad Max installment, Furiosa herself, Anya Taylor-Joy, will team up with another of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Chris Evans, in an exciting new venture.
According to a report from Deadline, Taylor-Joy, Evans, Salma Hayek Pinault, and Brendan Fraser are set to star in Sacrifice, helmed by writer-director Romain Gavras. Known for his work on Athena, Gavras is making his English feature film debut, assembling a stellar cast to bring his vision to life.
Sacrifice unfolds during a high-end charity gala besieged by a violent group of insurgents on a mythical quest. Taylor-Joy takes on the role of the antagonist and leader of the anarchic raiders, with Evans portraying a movie star targeted for assassination.
Gavras, along with Robert Walak of Iconoclast, will produce the film, with Taylor-Joy and Evans also lending their producing chops. Will Arbery, known for Plano and Succession, earns a writing credit for his contributions.
Recent Ventures of the ‘Sacrifice’ Cast:
While Chris Evans bid farewell to his Captain America days, he’s been busier than ever post-Marvel, starring alongside Ryan Reynolds, Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, and Emily Blunt in films like Free Guy, The Gray Man, Ghosted, and Pain Hustlers since 2021.
Anya Taylor-Joy, fresh off an Emmy nod for The Queen’s Gambit, has appeared in The Menu, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and the upcoming Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
Brendan Fraser staged a remarkable comeback, earning acclaim for The Whale and was slated to portray Firefly in the shelved Batgirl film. Though it’s been over two decades since Salma Hayek’s Oscar-nominated Frida, she’s been part of major projects like Magic Mike’s Last Dance alongside Channing Tatum and Marvel’s Eternals with Richard Madden and Angelina Jolie.
While an official release date for Sacrifice is pending, filming is scheduled to commence in September. Meanwhile, catch Anya Taylor-Joy opposite Chris Hemsworth in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, hitting screens on May 24.
