Engage in epic battles against formidable adversaries in Enshrouded by harnessing the power of magic to defeat them from a distance. However, becoming a proficient wizard involves meeting specific requirements. This guide provides comprehensive instructions on how to effectively cast spells in Enshrouded.
How to Cast Spells in Enshrouded
The ability to cast spells is unlocked once you acquire a staff or cane weapon, along with spell charges. While the concept appears straightforward, various methods can be employed to achieve this, each of which is elaborated below.
Acquiring a Magic Staff or Cane
Magic staves and canes can be acquired through looting or crafting. Keep an eye out for these weapons inside treasure chests during your explorations. Alternatively, you can craft them with the assistance of the Alchemist NPC after rescuing him. Refer to our Alchemist location guide for assistance with this task.
Obtaining Spell Charges
Similar to magical weapons, spell charges can be found as loot in chests and containers or crafted through the Alchemist. Below are a couple of early-game examples:
- Fireball I: Requires 10x Resin, 1x Tar, and 2x Bonemeal.
- Ice Bolt: Requires 2x Water and 5x Shroud Liquid.
Utilizing Magic Spells
Once you possess a magical weapon and spell charges, casting spells in Enshrouded becomes the next step. Familiarize yourself with the following steps:
1. Assign the magical weapon (staff or cane) to an action hotkey, ensuring your character holds the item.
2. Place spell charges in your backpack inventory. If space is an issue, consider upgrading your backpack inventory size.
3. With the staff or cane selected, press and hold the right mouse button, “Q” key (keyboard), or left trigger/LT (gamepad).
4. Your character will assume an aiming pose, allowing you to choose from the various spell charges in your inventory.
5. Press the left mouse button or right trigger/RT button to cast the selected spell. Note that “channeling” spells, such as Heal Channel, require holding the button down for a short duration.
6. Spells deplete your mana, indicated by the blue bar beneath the green HP bar. Mana regenerates over time, and regenerative potions are also available.
Casting spells in the game resembles shooting a bow, with magical powers serving as your ammunition. Keep in mind that spell charges are consumed per cast, necessitating the accumulation of more for continued use of specific elemental projectiles or healing buffs. Additionally, the Alchemist presents additional side quests that unlock additional crafting options as you progress.
