The highly anticipated fan game Bloodborne Kart, which originated as an April Fools’ joke, is facing a delay as the developers work to eliminate all references to the FromSoftware action RPG following contact from Sony.
In a message shared on social media, the developers stated, “So Sony contacted us. Long story short, we need to scrub the branding off of what was previously known as Bloodborne Kart. We will do this, but that requires a short delay. Don’t worry. The game is still coming out, so it’ll just look slightly different. We don’t have a release date yet, but we will let you all know ASAP when we do!”
Initially set for a January 31 launch, Bloodborne Kart was designed with 12 racers, 16 maps, a comprehensive single-player campaign mode, and local split-screen multiplayer.
The game appeared to be a fully-featured kart racer, complete with boss fights against familiar Bloodborne enemies, adding an extra layer of excitement.
Despite the setback, the developers appear undeterred, stating, “We were honestly expecting something like this to happen, and the idea of having full creative control is kind of exciting!”
Given Lilith ‘Bunlith’ Walther’s previous work on the impressive Bloodborne PS1 demake, it is anticipated that Bloodborne Kart will remain a compelling experience even without the unofficial FromSoftware branding.
The prospect of a horror-themed kart racer is sure to attract interest, highlighting the unique and creative direction the developers are taking.
