Nintendo continues its streak of Amiibo reprints, this time reintroducing two beloved characters from Super Smash Bros: Sonic the Hedgehog and Cloud Strife. Both are now open for preorder at Best Buy, with an anticipated release date of April 26, priced at $16 each.
It’s foreseeable that these Amiibo may sell out prior to their release, especially Cloud Strife’s, given the ongoing excitement surrounding the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. The Cloud Amiibo portrays the character wielding his iconic Buster Sword, and when utilized in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, players unlock in-game rewards such as Spirits and Gold.
While Sonic may not generate as much frenzy as the Cloud Amiibo, he remains a perennial favorite, so it’s uncertain how swiftly his inventory will deplete.
This reprint initiative follows Nintendo’s recent wave of Zelda reprints, which included models like the Guardian, Wolf Link, and Sheik, all of which quickly sold out at Best Buy. If this trend holds for Cloud and Sonic, securing one may prove challenging once they hit the shelves.
