The team behind Stormgate is actively seeking investors to support their studio’s growth following an immensely successful Kickstarter campaign that raised over $2 million.
According to a report from VG247, Frost Giant, the developer of Stormgate, has opted for a novel approach to funding its upcoming game by offering equity to potential investors. This initiative aims to involve fans directly in the studio’s endeavors and is specifically geared towards bolstering the marketing efforts for Stormgate’s impending Early Access launch on Steam.
Tim Morten, CEO of Frost Giant, emphasized the significance of this crowd-equity offering in a press release, stating, “Frost Giant Studios’ crowd-equity offering on StartEngine will enable private investors and passionate players to actually be our business partners to help launch Stormgate in the best way possible – together.” Currently, Frost Giant has attracted $43,145.68 from 18 investors.
It’s worth noting that these funds are not being raised to finance Stormgate’s development, as the game has already secured adequate funding for its production. Prior to initiating Stormgate’s Kickstarter campaign, Frost Giant had already secured the necessary resources.
However, the Kickstarter campaign was intended to augment the game’s existing features with additional elements, such as a 3v3 mode and enhanced hero customization.
Despite already being financially supported, Stormgate exceeded all expectations by surpassing the $2 million mark on Kickstarter, far exceeding its initial target of $100,000. This achievement was made possible by the enthusiastic backing of 28,143 supporters, indicating a significant and dedicated fan base for the game even before its official launch.
Looking ahead, Morten mentioned the imminent early access phase for Stormgate, scheduled to commence later this year and anticipated to last approximately one year. Following this phase, Frost Giant plans to proceed with the full launch of Stormgate, prompting the need for additional funding to support these endeavors.
