According to former WWE head writer Vince Russo, the entire WrestleMania 40 press conference should have revolved around Cody Rhodes’ explanation for abruptly changing his mind about his choice of opponent at The Show of Shows.
Russo expressed his belief that the company made a significant error by not having Rhodes clarify why he reversed his decision in just six days about facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.
In the latest episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Writing with Russo, Russo delved into the aftermath of the WrestleMania XL Kickoff event.
He argued that the press conference should have focused on The Rock, Roman Reigns, and Cody Rhodes, as these were the crucial elements for fans. Russo emphasized that Cody’s decision on Friday night needed to be explained, and the narrative should have developed from there.
Russo stated, “Bro, listen. The press conference should’ve been about The Rock, Roman Reigns, and Cody Rhodes. Nothing else matters. All the other stuff, none of that cr*p matters, especially when there are two more main events. What should’ve surrounded this is Cody explaining his decision on Friday night. And it should have gone from there. That was the only thing that mattered. Nobody cares about Becky Lynch and Rhea Ripley.”
As the WrestleMania 40 storyline unfolds, wrestling fans are eager to see how Cody Rhodes will justify his change of heart. Some anticipate a conclusive end to the narrative, while others speculate that the conclusion might echo WrestleMania 39, where Roman Reigns retained the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
Adding to the intrigue, wrestling legend Dustin Rhodes appears to support the idea of being in Cody’s corner at WrestleMania, hinting at a potential return to combat The Bloodline.
