Two new video games based on John Carpenter’s Halloween franchise are currently in development, with the legendary horror director involved in at least one of them. The games are being developed by Boss Team Games, the same publisher behind Evil Dead: The Game.
After announcing the end of development for Evil Dead: The Game in September 2023, Boss Team has shifted its focus to these new Halloween projects.
One of the games is reportedly titled Halloween: The Game, which suggests it might follow the format of asymmetrical multiplayer horror games similar to Friday the 13th: The Game and Evil Dead: The Game. However, this has not yet been confirmed. The involvement of John Carpenter, known for his significant influence on the horror genre, adds a layer of authenticity and excitement to the project.
Carpenter is said to be intimately involved with one of the games, which is being developed using Unreal Engine 5. This suggests that the game will feature cutting-edge graphics and possibly aim to capture the eerie atmosphere of the Halloween films.
Carpenter, a self-proclaimed gamer, expressed his enthusiasm for bringing the character of Michael Myers back to life in the gaming world and hopes to deliver a terrifying experience for players.
The upcoming games will allow players to relive iconic moments from the Halloween films and play as some of the classic characters from the franchise. This marks the first time since 1983 that the Halloween series will be adapted into a video game, making these new titles a significant event for fans of the horror genre.
Boss Team Games’ CEO, Steve Harris, emphasized the excitement within the studio about working on such a beloved horror franchise.
He described the opportunity to work with John Carpenter and Malek Akkad as a dream come true and assured fans that the studio is dedicated to creating an experience that will be cherished by both movie lovers and gamers alike. Although details are still scarce, the collaboration with Carpenter and the use of advanced technology have generated high expectations for these Halloween games.
