An exclusive report by StarNews on May 16th revealed significant changes for the girl group Kep1er, confirming that the group will be reorganized from nine to seven members. Kang Ye-seo and Mashiro will be leaving Kep1er to join another girl group, LimeLight, under their original agency, 143 Entertainment. This agency also manages the boy group iKON.
Kep1er is a multinational project girl group that was formed through Mnet’s survival program “Girls Planet 999,” which concluded in October 2021. The group officially debuted in January 2022, with their activities initially planned to last for two and a half years, culminating in July 2024.
Despite the initial contract’s end date approaching, the CEOs of the members’ agencies recently held discussions to explore extending the group’s activities. As a result of these discussions, seven of the nine members have successfully renewed their contracts, making Kep1er the first idol group created by an audition program to extend their contract beyond the original agreement.
