All Elite Wrestling (AEW) President Tony Khan has been widely praised for his exceptional matchmaking skills, delivering some of the most electrifying bouts in the professional wrestling world. However, some fans have been clamoring for more engaging storylines to complement these incredible matches. On the other hand, WWE has been boasting one of the most charming storylines in the business, The Bloodline, which has been unfolding for almost three years now.
The Bloodline, featuring Roman Reigns, The Usos, Sami Zayn, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and even Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, has been a masterclass in storytelling, with new characters seamlessly integrated into the narrative. The presence of Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa has recently added a fresh layer to the storyline, with Jacob Fatu reportedly signing with WWE.
Tony Khan has the perfect opportunity to create a rival faction in AEW, leveraging his vast roster to craft a storyline akin to The Bloodline. With Samoa Joe, a former AEW World Champion, already on the roster, he could spearhead a new faction. Adding Toa Liona, a Samoan athlete, and potentially signing Zilla Fatu, a free agent, would further bolster the group. The icing on the cake would be having former WWE Superstar Rikishi, currently not signed with WWE, manage the faction.
Rikishi, who has been engaging with The Bloodline storyline on social media, would bring invaluable experience and credibility to the table. Samoa Joe, with his main event caliber status, would be an excellent leader, allowing the faction to take on other top stars in AEW. The prospect of this new faction battling other AEW superstars would undoubtedly electrify the fan base.
Recently, Toa Liona was mocked on social media, being labeled as a “Bloodline wish.” However, he took the criticism in stride, stating that he didn’t take offense to the comparison. Liona even acknowledged Rikishi, his trainer, in a Twitter post, which was met with a nod of approval from the former WWE Superstar.
The introduction of the AEW Trios World Championships in 2022 showed promise, but the excitement has since fizzled out. By introducing a new faction similar to The Bloodline, AEW could revitalize the division and create fresh feuds over the different titles. With a deep roster at his disposal, Tony Khan would do well to explore this idea, giving fans the captivating storylines they crave to accompany the fantastic matches they’ve come to expect from AEW.
The ball is in Tony Khan’s court. Will he take the cue from WWE’s successful storyline and create a rival faction, propelling AEW to new heights? Only time will tell, but the possibilities are endless, and the fans are eagerly waiting to see what’s in store.
