Chris Hemsworth recently addressed the misconceptions surrounding his retirement plans amidst revelations about his genetic predisposition to Alzheimer’s disease. Contrary to rumors, he clarified that he has not been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and has no immediate intentions of retiring from acting.
During his participation in the docuseries Limitless for National Geographic, Hemsworth learned about his genetic risk for Alzheimer’s.
Concurrently, he contemplated a hiatus from Hollywood, partly due to audience reactions to Thor: Love and Thunder. However, the two narratives became entangled, leading to misunderstandings. Hemsworth expressed his frustration with the situation, stating:
“It really kind of pissed me off because it felt like I had been vulnerable with something personal and shared this. No matter how much I said ‘This is not a death sentence,’ the story became that I have dementia, and I’m reconsidering life and retiring and so on.”
Despite his annoyance at the rumors, Hemsworth maintained a sense of humor, sharing a humorous comment he encountered online.
Amidst the controversy, Hemsworth remains committed to his craft, with several projects lined up, including Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and Transformers One. He also expressed a desire to explore diverse roles, mentioning his attempt to secure a lead role in a Kevin Costner movie.
However, one character he’s not done with yet is Thor, a role he’s embodied for over a decade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Reflecting on his latest portrayal of Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder, Hemsworth acknowledged criticism and pledged to adopt a more serious approach in future appearances. While details about Thor 5 remain scarce, reports suggest efforts are underway to revitalize the character’s storyline in upcoming films.
