Bayley recently delved into the conclusion of her tenure with the Damage CTRL faction on WWE SmackDown, shedding light on her departure and offering insights into her long-time friend Charlotte Flair’s recovery from a serious knee injury suffered in December 2023.
Returning at SummerSlam in July 2022 after a year-long injury hiatus, Bayley initiated an all-female stable alongside former NXT talents Dakota Kai and IYO SKY.
The group expanded to include The Kabuki Warriors’ Asuka and Kairi Sane before Bayley’s expulsion from the faction in February.
Reflecting on her exit from Damage CTRL during an interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter, Bayley remarked:
“Yeah, if you would have seen when they attacked me that day, I definitely saw it coming. It was a long time coming, I think. I feel now, looking back in hindsight, that they were just waiting for the right moment, and I think they thought I was a little dumber than I really am, you know?”
Bayley also provided an update on Charlotte Flair’s recovery, offering insights into her friend’s progress following the injury setback.
Moreover, it had been anticipated for weeks that Damage CTRL would turn against Bayley post her 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble win. Defying the odds, Bayley triumphed over former stablemate IYO SKY at WrestleMania XL, clinching the WWE Women’s Championship.
In character, Bayley expressed her foresight regarding her allies’ betrayal and highlighted her experience in sterring such situations:
“They thought they were outsmarting me, but I’ve been doing this a lot longer than they have at this level. I’ve had my shares of turns and all that stuff, so I had the experience and I saw it coming.”
Additionally, Bayley shared her candid thoughts on three crucial steps Jade Cargill must undertake following her transition to a full-time member of WWE’s main roster.
